South Africa has had six presidents since the end of apartheid in 1994:
Nelson Mandela (1994-1999): Mandela was the first democratically elected president of South Africa and served only one term.
Thabo Mbeki (1999-2008): Mbeki succeeded Mandela and served two terms. He was known for his focus on economic growth and his foreign policy initiatives in Africa.
Kgalema Motlanthe (2008-2009): Motlanthe served as interim president for a brief period between Mbeki and Zuma.
Jacob Zuma (2009-2018): Zuma served two terms as president but was forced to resign in early 2018 due to corruption allegations.
Cyril Ramaphosa (2018-present): Ramaphosa succeeded Zuma and is the current president of South Africa. He has focused on economic reform and addressing corruption in government.
Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa (2018-present): Ramaphosa was elected as the president of South Africa in 2018 after the resignation of Jacob Zuma. He has focused on fighting corruption, boosting the economy and tackling unemployment. Ramaphosa played a pivotal role in the anti-apartheid struggle as a trade unionist and was one of the drafters of South Africa's post-apartheid Constitution.
